Land of the free is back, baby!

April 9th, 2009 (06:22 pm)

In case you've forgotten how good we've got it now, I want to tell you about three things:

1.  President Obama will be (tonight) the first sitting President to host a Passover seder at the White House.
2.  The White house is specifically allocating tickets to gay families for this year's Easter Egg Roll.
3.  Meeting with students in Turkey, President Obama promised to end the meeting in time before the Muslim call to prayer.

Hag Sameach and Happy Easter!

Obama rulz.

Feeling: ready to go home

Obama on stupid debate questions via re-nest.com:

"I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me ... answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f***ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."

- President-Elect Barack Obama, during preparations for the primary debates, via Newsweek's Special Election Project, "How He Did It, 2008."

This is amazing.  We did it.  We actually did it.

I love all of you and can't wait for what's next.

President-Elect Obama.

It's all happening!

Feeling: READY

Holding it down here in Florida.

I voted two weeks ago.

For the past two days, patrons have been coming in hordes looking for their polling places.

I'm doing my part by looking it up for them and printing out maps from the library to the right location.

I hope they go!

I'm feeling good and hopeful.  A bit jumpy.

Five Thirty Eight is showing a 98.9% probability that Obama wins.

Tonight I'm making pizza and have beer at the ready.

Si se puede.

Uh huh.  Word.

Now I need a Bubbe to come by and spit and I need to stay away from cracks in the sidewalk.

Change is coming. I have proof.

Feeling: awesome

Cornelia, as you know, is our 96 year old, firecracker of a neighbor.  She's quite awesome and I'm kind of her biggest fan.  So last night, when I got home, I noticed an Obama yard sign on Cornelia's lawn.  Yay!  I asked Michael if he had noticed the sign and he said, "Yeah, and I watched the neighbor from the corner help her set it in."

Right then, I almost started crying happy tears.

Why?

The neighbor who helped put the sign in Cornelia's yard?

Nine year old African American girl.

Helping out the self-described "neighborhood bitch" old white lady.

Isn't that the best ever?

Hell. Yeah.

I think this about sums it up...
