From an essay I wrote on "my vision":
I believe that partisanship is destroying our country. I believe in campaign finance reform that makes sense. I believe that civil rights are human rights. I believe that handguns should be banned and the NRA should go jump in the lake. I believe in a woman’s right to choose. I believe in a moratorium on the death penalty. I believe that war is not the answer. I believe in vegetarianism and animal rights, but I believe that if killing a monkey will cure cancer, then scientists should kill the monkey. I believe in following your own religion as long as you tolerate others and do not kill in the name of your religion. I believe in corporate accountability. I believe that Martha Stewart should [have done] community service and should not [have been] a scapegoat for all corporate crime. I believe that tax cuts only benefit that wealthy and will not fix the economy. I believe that everyone deserves a fair chance. I believe in God, ghosts, faeries, and extra-terrestrials. I believe that global warming is a serious problem... I believe in fair trade. I believe in a strong central government. I believe that Coniston, in the Lake District, in the United Kingdom is the most beautiful place on earth. I believe in public education. I believe that we can change the world through education and tolerance. I believe in optimism and positive thinking.
